Week 4

Ok, so I am cheating a leeeetle bit as I didn't take this picture, Mark did. (With his iPhone.)
I wanted to use this picture though because it represented a lovely surprise. Mark asked me to keep Saturday the 18th free but wouldn't tell me why. After convincing me to pack an overnight bag he whisked me out to the lovely Waitakere Estate; the 'Rainforest Retreat of Auckland.'

While the rain fell in sheets outside in the darkness we enjoyed a beautiful mid-winter Christmas dinner in the charming little restaurant there with views towards the sparkly lights of Auckland city. After dinner we relaxed over a bottle of champagne in the lounge area... blazing log fire, soft lights, cushions and a giant Christmas tree with fairy lights. There is something magical about being snug in a cozy corner of happiness on a cold, wet night.

The room was gorgeous too. Breakfast the next morning was enjoyed over grand vistas of the rolling hills peeking out from beneath the clouds to reveal the city.

All in all, a really lovely surprise in a truly charming spot.

I loved living at this apartment and part of me was quite sad to leave. This is the place where I felt I really learned more about myself.

Week One

After a lengthy hiatus I am back in the game, along with Scott and Captain, for this weekly photo challenge. It will be fun!

This was a fabulously colourful guy at the markets on Waiheke Island crooning confidently and with feeling. It was quite a bewitching spectacle.

Ahhhh..... I am missing Jarvis :(
